“FutureCity” Initiative and International Contributions -Creation of New Value through Reconstruction and Renovation-

The 2nd International Forum on the “FutureCity” Initiative was held with the aim of disseminating the concept of the “FutureCity” Initiative both within and outside Japan and facilitating dialogue to expand and deepen the international network.
The forum showcased 11 selected “FutureCities” and other cities around the world with leading practices in effort to create environmental, social, and economic values to realize sustainable socioeconomic structures. Potential for global expansion of such leading practices were also discussed.
This year’s forum was held in “Shimokawa Town,” a small town in Hokkaido with a population of 3,600, striving to fully leverage its features and local resources to realize a “FutureCity.”
