International Forum on the “FutureCity” Initiative in Malaysia

Building the sustainable city and the “FutureCity”

The Cabinet Secretariat of Japan has been hosting the annual International Forum on the “FutureCity” Initiative. On Sunday, February 8, 2015, the forum will be held overseas for the first time in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The objective of the "FutureCity" initiative is to develop the successful showcases unparalleled in the world through the effort to realize the "FutureCity". This is the city that creates the new values centered on the human life and that addresses the issues of the environment and aging. By sharing the case studies in the domestic and global arenas, we can also address the objectives of revitalizing the region and building the sustainable economic societal structure.
The Forum aims to share the success examples of "FutureCity" efforts to build a coalition between the cities and to stimulate the related business opportunities. We are hoping that the Iskandar Development project of Johor State, the national project of Malaysia, will actively use the "FutureCity" initiative.
